The Power Ring angle was innovative and fresh. She was already a Justice League member as Power Ring. The question could especially be applies to Jessica. The question could be asked for each Lantern they've ever created after Hal. Sure, they could create an alien equivalent of that predicament, but it wouldn't resonate as much with readers as this actual event that many can relate to does.
